The transformations imposed by the pandemic have driven the digitization of several processes in the workplace, entertainment and retail around the world. Ponto Care, in partnership with CESAR, is also bringing this transformation to healthcare in the United States.

The American company created a solution where, applying 5G connectivity infrastructure, it allows a set of medical exams to be carried out in people’s places. The main objective is to expand access to medical care with the expansion of virtual medicine. Ponto Care complements the virtual consultation with the necessary medical exams, but done at the patient’s location of choice.

The objective of the American company was to make simple exams more comfortable, practical and, in the new context, safe for everyone, including people with limited mobility. This was made possible using advanced technology, user experience and innovation in the way of practicing medicine.

Healthcare at home

The solution consists of a system for distribution, delivery and connectivity of the equipment used to run medical exams remotely. The system includes a special cart with a robotic mechanism for climbing stairs and bringing everything necessary into the patient’s place. These carts are distributed and prepared in a modified Sprinter Van that allows 15-20 home visits to be made in one day.

The Ponto system allows complex exams such as ophthalmology, ultrasound and laboratory tests, in addition to the vast majority of exams that are done in clinics.

The CESAR team was responsible for developing one of the most important parts of the project: Ponto Assist, a system that manages patient data and exams. This information is stored in a cloud service that can be accessed by doctors who will perform the diagnostics and send the results back to patients.

In a three-month project to integrate systems and services with the cloud, our professionals used an agile software development methodology, with partial deliveries every two weeks. The entire system was made in compliance with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), American regulation that requires confidentiality and security of all healthcare-related data. This means that the information is encrypted and can only be accessed by the patients themselves and the doctor they designate.

“The work with the CESAR team was key in the development of the Ponto Care platform. The team’s professionalism and eficiency impressed us and we want to continue this engagement in the process of implementing more advanced technologies such as virtual reality and automated prior authorizations.” Dr. Fabio Thiers – CEO, Ponto Care Inc.
